Tom Cuddy, M.Sc.
I began focusing on the science of endurance sport when I was an undergrad studying Exercise and Movement Science at the University of Vermont. As a sea-level native, I became interested in how the body functions at high altitude as I began training for the Bridger Ridge Run in 2015. After finishing my master's degree from Western Colorado University in High Altitude Exercise Physiology, I relocated to Bozeman, MT to start my own Exercise Physiology lab and performance training programs at Lone Peak Performance. I take a balanced approach of applying exercise physiology and anecdotal experiences to help develop my athletes. My passion for mountain biking, ski mountaineering, and trail running have played a huge role in how I train others. My favorite thing about coaching is igniting a passion in others that leads to a lifetime of adventures.

I have been training for and competing in endurance sports since I was 11 years old. I started racing cross country mountain biking and cyclocross, as well as nordic skiing. Through college, I raced Division I Nordic Skiing, and fell in love with the process of training and finding ways to improve. For me, this included finding new strength exercises in the gym, enjoying long runs or rides in the mountains, and dialing in the right intervals to prepare for races. All of this combined is what can create the conditions for optimal performance. I also started as a volunteer coach with the local nordic team, and found the same joy in helping other athletes solve the puzzle of performance. After graduating college and moving to Bozeman, I knew that I wanted to continue coaching, training and racing. I started working with Bozeman Youth Cycling as a youth coach, while also racing on the UCI mountain bike circuit around the US. My favorite thing about coaching is getting to see all the improvements, both large and small, that athletes make through the process of training. Whether that means achieving consistency in training, shaving time off your favorite downhill, or crossing the finish-line first.
